Massive Attack – Olympia 6 October 2009
10.07.09
First up, the ticket found its way to me via Toutless.com which is a terrific idea and I like it very much.

So last night I traipsed into town to see Massive Attack. I like a lot of stuff by Massive Attack. Some of their stuff has blown my mind. And for me, Massive Attack is more a state of mind kind of music than a band kind of music.
This means – in short – that if you ask me exactly who was there, I can’t answer that question. I’ve never been interested in the individuals in Massive Attack, only the sum of their output.
For me the concert was an interesting mix of stuff I didn’t know (a lot of which didn’t appeal to me with one or two exceptions including the opening track) and stuff I did know (Teardrop aside, all absolutely fantastic). I like Massive Attack’s way of playing a concert; they come on, and they play and that’s it. They played from about 9.15 to 11.10 including encores; and aside from the stuff that didn’t quite appeal to me, I have to say they did a great concert. And a fantastic lightshow. And every single person in the Olympia enjoyed it from what I can see.
But they did not play Incantations for which I am extremely disappointed as it’s my absolute favourite Massive Attack track.
