Via family machinations, I was at Billy Elliot in a London theatre on Thursday night. It doesn’t count quite as West End cos it’s closer to Victoria than anywhere else, being called the Victoria Palace.
Without going into the minutiae, I have to say I enjoyed it. Music not my favourite, but some terrific dancing, fairly decent script (ie one million times better than the We Will Rock You script). Social backdrop probably went over the heads of al ot of people in the theatre.
I enjoyed it. Not going to rate it or anything like that but if you’re free of a night in London, it’s good entertainment.
