in search of the perfect electronic reader.

I want an electronic reader that:

  1. reads pdfs
  2. loads zinio
  3. displays in colour
  4. is not manufactured by Apple
  5. costs around 300E
  6. has more than 64gig storage

Currently, no reader on the market does all six of these.

I haven’t found an Android tablet that costs less than around 600E, or, indeed, a Windows based on (although apparently they are in the pipeline). And an iPad (is that one of the most stupid names ever) costs at least 450E and that one definitely doesn’t do 64gig of storage. On balance, if you say you want a reader, everyone recommens the Amazon Kindle and that’s fine for books that don’t, for example, have any colour in them. It sucks for magazines and frankly although it’d be nice to be able to read the New York Times, it’s really not worth it when enough other things aren’t in place for me.

Possibly I need to give up on this idea for a while yet.
